This turn of the century quintessential Maine cottage was fully renovated a few years ago, While it maintaining it’s period of architecture and classic furniture. There are six bedrooms, 2 on the main floor, one with a double bed, one with 2 twin beds, 4 bedrooms on the second floor, 3 with queen beds, one with a king bed. 2 full baths and 3 half baths. It is part of the Auburn Colony which is a Turn of the Century Colony that families owned and used as their summer residences. Some of the cottages have changed hands and are now available for rental.
The Auburn Colony is for the vacationer who wants to tap into the history and traditions of colony life. The property boasts wonderful water views, shared facilities, including a beautiful outdoor pool, recreation hall, play area for children, beach access for kayaking, and a clay tennis court. There is also the Dining Hall on the property, which serves dinner in the dining hall where a dress code is still maintained. In order to stay at any cottages in the Auburn Colony, during the summer months, renters are required to pay an additional fee for dining at the Dining Hall. There have been some years recently that it has not been able to be open, due to staffing shortages. Renters will not be required to pay an additional fee for the Dining Hall if it is not operational ! The Dining Hall is known to serve chef prepared dinners a few nights of the week, as well as a Sunday brunch. It’s quite an impressive and convenient building to dine in. The history of the Colony adds so much to this little community in Harpswell ! This cottage is quite beautiful and accommodates large groups or small families so well !
